How to Rip Encrypted DVDs with Original Quality to Smart TCL/Samsung TVs on PC and Mac?

I am looking for a DVD ripping program for my PC running Windows 10 to convert more than 250 kids and family DVDs purchased over the years. I will be playing back on two of my 4K smart TVs by TCL and Samsung up and downstairs.

I plan to rip DVD to smart TVs in MP4, and the very smart TV DVD Ripper is needed with the following requirements:

  1. Rip Encrypted DVDs from Disney and other companies, mainly Disney cartoons
  2. Retain high quality of playback
  3. Retain subtitles, especially when an alien or foreign language is spoken.

My TCL and Samsung 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs are two of the best sellers on Amazon. Most smart TVs are based on Android and you are free to play all most all kinds of video formats with a third-party video player. However, due to some known limitations, MP4 is always recommended for playback on those smart TVs as it is the most compatible. What I’d like today is a TCL and Samsung smart TV DVD ripper from LeawoSoft-Leawo DVD Ripper.

Leawo DVD Ripper is a versatile DVD ripping solution for Windows and Mac, including Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7, Vista and XP, macOS Sierra, High Sierra, El Captian, Mojave, Catalina, etc. To me, it is the best Windows and Mac DVD ripper in the market that can beat Aimersoft DVD Ripper, Open DVD Ripper, Magic DVD Ripper, etc. to rip DVDs to your local or external hard drive for watching on smart TVs.

Leawo DVD Ripper is a powerful DVD ripper and DVD content extractor. It extracts all region DVDs and Disney protected DVDs and copies to MP4 MKV WMV AVI iPhone/iPad TVs etc. Video formats like MP3, M4A, WMA, WAV, ACC, AC3, DTS are all supported. Also, you can rip DVDs to 3D MP4 or MKV so as to enjoy DVD movies on your VR devices like Gear VR. The built-in player is great for preview and the editor provides a lot of functions including Aspect Radio, Rotate, Deinterlacing Method, Volume (up to 500%), Trim, Crop, Watermark, Subtitle, Brightness, Contrast, Saturation.

How to Rip DVD to smart TV

As mentioned above, Leawo DVD Ripper can rip almost all encrypted DVDs from Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Fox, Universal, Warner Bros as well as CSS protected ones. I say almost not all just because decryption always comes after encryption. So, make sure you always run the latest version of Leawo DVD Ripper from the below download links for free.

And, it is recommended to use it with an internet connection as it gets updates for DVD decrypting from its server.

Always note that Leawo DVD Ripper is one of the components of Leawo Prof. Media, which is what you will download. And below is a quick guide on how to rip encrypted DVDs to MP4 with Leawo smart TV DVD ripper with original video and audio quality.

First of all, choose the DVD ripper in the all-in-one launcher. Or go the Convert tab.

Then add DVD via the “Add Blu-ray/DVD” button or just do a drag-and-drop.

Thirdly, in order to get a high-quality video and audio output for smart TVs, go Mp4 Video-Edit and set both Audio and Video to Best, and set the video codec to H264.

Besides, if you want to copy DVDs to external hard drive for watching on smart TVs, click Run and set the output folder to your external hard drive as you prefer.

Just make sure you have enough space and it is writeable.

Troubleshooting:ripped MP4 does not work for my smart TV, why and what can I do?

Please note that due to various requirements of different smart TVs, some for a video codec, some for audios, although this profile works for my TCL and Samsung smart TV, it does not mean to work for all. I have the below suggestions for your reference.

  1. For those Android-based smart TVs, try to install the omnipotent media player-MX Player, Kodi or MoboPlayer via the built-in app store, Google Play or USB. They are all free to use.
  2. Go to advanced settings as well, and custom the profile like video codec, frame rate, resolution, audio codec, sample rate, bitrate to meet your smart TV’s requirements.
  3. Try the profile for Apple TV. Yes, the one for Apple iOS. I notice it always quite well for my friends and family TVs.  You can locate it in Output-Device-Apple as shown below:
