I am highly impressed with Leawo Mac Bluray DVD Ripper software, and it seems very easy to use. I have converted my favorite Bluray DVDs to an appropriate format i.e. MP4 for example and I am wondering can I upload these files to my Google Drive account via my MBP. My Google Drive has plenty of room at 1 TB storage for this, which ultimately I would then like to then download and play on my PLEX cloud storage account. Then, with this option, hopefully, I can watch my DVD’s potentially anywhere in the world!

There are a great many ways to save a ripped DVD. Some would like to rip and save DVDs to the local hard drive, some would like to save on a USB or external drive, some on a NAS. For whatever reason that you want your Bluray DVD collection into digital files, mine is that I can store those files on cloud drives like Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, DropBox, pCloud, Baidu and stream them anytime, from anywhere.

However, Bluray DVDs are over 25GB, and even using MakeMKV to encode it to an MKV file, it will be around 16 GB or so and it will take time to upload and it takes too much space!

A Bluray DVD Ripper to Rip and Compress Bluray DVD to Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, Box

A Bluray DVD Ripper that is able to rip and compress a Bluray DVD down to 5-10GB and retains the almost original Bluray DVD 1080P quality will be perfect for me to upload ripped Bluray DVD to my Google Drive or even other famous cloud storage like OneDrive, iCloud, DropBox, pCloud, Box, Baidu, etc.

There is one more feature for the Google Drive cloud Bluray DVD ripper that I’d like to know how large the output will be before ripping. Ripping a Bluray DVD to MP4 with the file size smaller than 8GB will be acceptable to upload to cloud for sharing or remote access. If ripping DVDs only, I want them to be under 1GB for a standard 90 min movie.

Also, the best Bluray ripper must be stable as well. While others fail to rip Bluray Wonder Man, Leawo is still working.

And, there is no better ripping solution than Leawo Bluray DVD Ripper as it offers a clean way to customize your own profile and it accurately estimates the output file size, where you can see if it fits your needs.

Leawo Bluray Ripper is able to rip and compress both Blu-rays and DVDs on both Windows and macOS. It is able to compress a Bluray or DVD to a reasonable size for you to upload to Google Drive, DropBox, iCloud, Box, pCloud, etc.

Also, this Bluray Ripper from LeawoSoft supports the latest AACS, up to v69 at the very moment and removes Blu-ray region code. For DVDs, CSS or region code or other protections from Disney with broken VTS IFO files as structure protection. The built-in profiles enable you to rip Bluray DVD to over 180 video formats like MP4, MKV, WMV, MOV or iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, smart TVs, etc. And you are always free to customize your own profile.

How to Rip a Bluray DVD to Google Drive, DropBox, Box Compatible Format?

We will have to check what video format and codec can be stored and played Google Drive, DropBox, Box, etc before we rip our Bluray DVD. After only a little search, we know MP4 either in H.264 or MPEG 4 are the most compatible format for almost all cloud drives including the most popular ones mentioned above as well as others like pCloud, Baidu.

As I mainly use Google Drive and I have plenty of space, I will take Google Drive as an example to show you how to rip Bluray DVD to cloud.

Tips, we see actually those cloud drives support various video formats, including MP4, MOV, AVI, M4V, WMV, FLV etc. MP4 is the most compatible one for all most all devices and cloud drives. For Dropbox and Google Drive, you can rip and compress Bluray DVD to FLV to save a lot of space if you don’t care the video quality much.

Step 5. Control the output file size. Click MP4 Video-Edit to set the resolution, bitrate etc to control the output size as you like.

Custom Profile

  • Decrease the original 1080P resolution to, say, 1280×720 or 960×540, will save a lot of space.
  • It is recommended to use smart match (VBR) in Bit Rate (Kbps) for action movies.
  • Click OK to confirm the changes or save the customized profile as your own
  • You are able to preview the output file size in the Bluray ripper UI after the change for each title.

Step 6. Output folder. As far as I can see, all of the above-mentioned cloud storage has a desktop app for you to sync files/folder to cloud. This way, we can set the output folder to that folder so Google Drive, Dropbox, pCloud can automatically sync the ripped MP4 file from Bluray DVD to the cloud. If there is anything wrong in syncing, you are still able to save the Bluray to your local hard drive first and move it or upload it to cloud after ripping. You can set the output folder after you click Convert or go to Preference on macOS-Downloader-Save videos to:

Step 7. Ripping the Bluray to Google Drive, Dropbox, Box compatible MP4 file. Hit the Convert button and enjoy a cup of coffee before it’s done.
