Wondershare Blu-ray Ripping Supported or Not? Best Bluray Rippers to Fulfil Your Needs on PC and Mac

I am a registered user of Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate (now called Wondershare UniConverter) and I was under the impression I could copy my Blu-rays with it as I believed that Wondershare Blu-ray ripping would be supported. I own each of them and I want to put them on a thumb drive for my own use, nothing sinister or nothing being sold. We travel and it’s easier to carry a 3TB drive with all my Bluray DVD movies.

Does Wondershare Support Blur-ay Ripping?

I insert my Blu-ray discs and start to ripping Blu-ray with Wondershare UniConverter and I get into trouble for the very first step of loading the Bluray disc. I get the error message that reads: “Invalid DVD Folder”.

I think it may be a disc issue and try another one, only to find it comes with the same error message. Also, I have tried my troubleshooting steps on this post but it doesn’t see any IFO files in a Bluray disc. It seems that Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate does not support Blu-ray ripping at all but is there a Wondershare Blu-ray Ripping software?

I then contacted Wondershare for help and the answer broke my heart:

We can only support common DVD’s and not Blu-ray due to the fact that there are several layers of digital rights management (DRM) which restricts the usage of the Blu-ray. This is done to prevent the copying of copyrighted content.

So, the answer to the question “Does Wondershare Support Blu-ray Ripping?” is a big short NO.

My needs in Blu-ray Ripping

Wondershare always gives me great results in DVD ripping, video converting, video editing, and YouTube downloading and I keep recommending Wondershare to everyone. However, it is really a pity that Wondershare does not support Blu-ray ripping.

I see there are quite a lot of Bluray rippers in the market but which one is able to fulfill my needs? Generally, a Bluray ripper must do the following things for me:

  1. Support protected Bluray
  2. Rip Blu-ray discs to MP4 for iPhone/iPad/Apple TV or other possible formats for smart TVs

What are your needs? Leave me a comment, please!

Best Bluray Rippers as Wondershare Blu-ray Ripping Alternatives

I have tested a couple of Bluray rippers, however, I found some of them just don’t work on protected Bluray discs like Xilisoft and Sothink Blu-ray Ripper. You may have to use third-party plugins so as to rip protected Blu-rays. Here I’d like to recommend you THREE for protected Blu-ray ripping as an alternative for Wondershare Blu-ray ripping, including removing the Blu-ray region code.

Leawo Blu-ray Ripper is the top Blu-ray Ripper for both Windows and macOS users and it is able to handle the latest Blu-ray protections of AACS, BD+, and MKB and Leawo keeps updating it so users won’t worry about the latest protections.

Leawo Blu-ray Ripper provides a wide range of output formats as well as devices to meet different users’ needs. It is even able to rip 4K and 3D Blu-rays to normal MP4, AVI, M4V, WMV, MKV for playback or editing on HDD or playback on devices like Apple TV, iPad/iPhone, smart TVs, Android phones, etc.

The Edit function of Leawo Blu-ray Ripper is basic but works well. The built-in Blu-ray player is a bonus and it supports 2D to 3D Blu-ray ripping for your VR headsets.

AnyMP4 Blu-ray Ripper is an all-in-one Blu-ray ripping solution that is able to rip and convert protected Bluray discs to a number of output video formats like Mp4, MKV, AVI, and audio formats like Mp3, AAC, etc. Also, it decrypts and compresses Blu-ray discs to your portable devices like iPhone/iPad, Gear VR, etc.

AnyMP4 Blu-ray Ripper also works on both PC and Mac and it features the various 3D settings. And it is believed by me the true 3D Bluray Ripper, making it one of the best Wondershare Blu-ray Ripper alternative.

DVDFab is really powerful in Bluray ripping and it is always the first to decrypt the latest Bluray copy protections and it supports the latest Bluray protection of AACS and BD+ and Blu-ray discs from region A, B, and C. It only takes about a day or so for DVDFab to update itself to keep up with the latest protection.

Bluray Passthrough is one of the unique features in DVDFab, with which you are able to remux Bluray to MP4/MKV/M2TS without converting, meaning what you will get keeps the original Bluray video quality! 3D MKV is also supported as you can see below:

Passthrough Profiles

Besides, DVDFab supports different video and audio formats and devices and it is rich in options like custom file names. And, if you are interested in ripping and converting Blu-ray to HiFi audio, DVDFab is your very choice.

Summary

The three programs work to rip protected Blu-rays and they are nice alternatives if you are looking for Wondershare Blu-ray rippers. AnyMP4 and DVDFab are a bit expensive and it only rips Blu-ray but the 3D ripping feature impresses me. Leawo Blu-ray Ripper also works for DVDs and it provides good results as well. If you are looking for a 4K Blu-ray Ripper,  DVDFab and Leawo are recommended. They are recommended and my final recommendation is you try the programs first before you make up your own decision.

Thank you for this article. I have Wondershare, and went through those “Invalid DVD steps”. Good screenshots. Because of your article, I’ve chosen to get a free trial of a couple of these products you’ve suggested.

Hey, I know this is two years later and but if you really use Wondershare could I ask you a question about subtitles? I want to purchase this program and the free version won’t do what I need. I just can’t seem to get a straight answer and if I could I would just buy it? Thanks in advance

Hey thanks for replying.
I would like to export the subtitle files from some dvds. I’ve got multi language and hard of hearing people in the house.
On the free version you can see the export subtitles option but you can not click on it.
if you have the paid version I’m guessing it lets you export the subtitles?
Now if it does let you export the subtitle files, what format are SRT? Or do you have to do more processes?
Having multiple language srt files would be so convenient.
hope this was clear and thanks again.
